At City Backpackers HQ, we want everyone to feel safe, happy, and most importantly, enjoy their stay with us. For this reason, we have house rules that our guests must abide by during their stay. By booking with us, you agree to our house rules and our terms and conditions.

No Drugs in the Hostel

We have a strict no-drugs policy. Anyone caught with drugs will be asked to leave immediately and will not be refunded. This is the only warning we will give.

No Drugs includes marijuana. Marijuana is illegal in Australia.

*If you have a marijuana prescription, you must disclose this to reception when you are checking in and provide evidence of your prescription.
If you have a valid prescription, your marijuana must be in a closed and sealed container at all times when on the premises. You are not permitted to roll, prepare or smoke marijuana on the premises and it must be hidden at all times.

No Smoking or Vaping Indoors

Queensland fire alarms are very sensitive. If the fire alarm is activated by smoking, vaping, candles, etc., caused by the guest, a fine of $1500 will be charged to you.

No Stealing

Anyone caught stealing items, belongings, or food from the kitchen or rooms that are not theirs will be evicted immediately. Keep your eyes on your things – we take no responsibility for lost or stolen items. If you are conscious of any valuables, we have baggage storage facilities available from $9 per week. Enquire at the reception for more information or assistance.

Respect Our Staff and Our Building

Please ensure you keep your belongings and room clean and tidy, as well as our kitchen and bathroom facilities. We ask that you clean up before you eat your food. If you take food outside to the terrace, remember to take the plates back to the kitchen and wash your dishes. Our staff are here to help you and ensure that you have an excellent stay with us. They are not here to tidy up your mess. We will not tolerate threatening or abusive language at any point during your stay here. Any abusive guests will be asked to leave and will not be refunded. Depending on the severity of the incident, we may contact local authorities.

Drink in Moderation

Alcohol drinking is permitted between the hours of 12:00pm mid-day to 9pm ONLY.
After this time all alcohol drinking must be stopped.
If you drink excessively or are too drunk, we may ask you to stop drinking and leave the property. You will not be refunded. Please also tidy up any rubbish and keep our property clean.

No Visitors

Due to security and fire safety reasons in Queensland, we cannot allow visitors. Please visit your friends outside of the hostel. Our venue and facilities are for our guests with a current, active reservation only. Guests who let non-guests into the building will have their reservations cancelled with no refund.

Your Belongings Are Your Responsibility!

We take no responsibility for lost or stolen items. For more information, please see our Booking Terms and Conditions under Lost And Found.

No Charging E-Scooter/E-Bike Batteries

In the interests of fire safety for all our guests, we do not allow charging of E-Scooter or E-bike batteries in the building.
Portable power-banks are OK but must be monitored at all times when they are charging and not left unattended at any times.

Remember to Extend Your Stay

Let us know if you are planning on staying longer than your reservation. If you don’t book ahead, your bed may be sold to someone else. We have discounted weekly rates available. Enquire at the reception for more information.

Management Reserves the Right to Refuse Entry

Management reserves the right to refuse entry to any guest at check-in. We have the right to evict anyone for unlawful, inappropriate, or violent behaviour. If you refuse to leave when asked, you are trespassing and we will call the police.

By creating a booking with us, you agree to all of our house rules and understand that if you are caught breaking the house rules, you will be asked to leave immediately, and will not be refunded for any remaining balance of your stay. Depending on the severity, we may also block you from booking with us again and may inform other hostels in Brisbane of your actions. Any damage or fines caused by you or your guests will be charged to you
